Privacy Policy

Firelink Labs LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates TasteArchive (the "Service"), available as a mobile application, web application, and browser extension. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you use social sign-in, limited profile information provided by Google or Apple (name, email). We do not store your social-provider passwords.

Recipe & Usage Data

We store the recipes, collections, meal plans, grocery lists, pantry items, and other content you create within the Service. This data is necessary to provide core functionality and is associated with your account.

Images

Photos you upload for recipes are stored in our cloud storage infrastructure. You may delete your images at any time by editing or deleting the associated recipe.

Device & Analytics Data

We use Sentry for error monitoring and crash reporting. This may include device type, operating system, app version, and error stack traces. We do not send personally identifiable information to Sentry.

Push Notification Tokens

If you opt in to push notifications, we store your device push token to deliver notifications such as pantry expiration reminders and household invitations.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • To process recipe imports, AI-powered features, and text-to-speech
  • To validate subscriptions via Apple App Store and Google Play
  • To send transactional emails (verification, password reset)
  • To deliver push notifications you have opted into
  • To monitor errors and improve reliability

3. Third-Party Services

We share limited data with the following third-party providers:

  • OpenAI — recipe text is sent for AI parsing, adaptation, substitution suggestions, nutrition estimates, and text-to-speech. OpenAI's API data usage policies apply.
  • Google Cloud Vision — recipe photos are sent for OCR text extraction during photo imports.
  • Kroger / Instacart — if you connect your account, grocery items and store preferences are shared to enable online ordering.
  • Resend — your email address is used to send transactional emails.
  • Sentry — anonymized error data is sent for crash reporting and monitoring.
  • Pexels — stock photos may be fetched for recipe images via the Pexels API.
  • Apple / Google — purchase receipts are validated with Apple App Store and Google Play servers.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We use encryption in transit (TLS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and follow security best practices. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page in the app. Account deletion permanently removes your profile, recipes, collections, meal plans, grocery lists, and all associated data. This action is irreversible.

You may also export all your data at any time using the backup feature in Settings before deleting your account.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the app and updating the effective date above.
